Y'all I have be soooo excited to share this post! If you caught my insta-story last week then you know that we recently had our master bedroom closet customized via The Container Store. It seriously took our closet from standard and boring to efficient, beautiful, and a place I actually want to get dressed in the morning! Today I'm going to share the before and after photos and talk you all through the process!
Let's jump right in!
Since moving in to our house in August, we knew that have the closet customized was something we wanted to do, but in terms of priority it was more of an "at some point" item on our long list of to-dos. Our closet was fine, it was big enough for us and it was perfectly functional.
Unfortunately- for our wallets; but fortunately for us we happened to wander in to The Container Store during their annual sale on all Elfa products. We decided to make an appointment to come back the next weekend for a free consultation. We took a few rough measurements of our closet and brought them in with us to the appointment.
We partnered with one of their in store designers to talk through what we needed from our closet. For us, that was some additional drawer storage, shelving that was more accessible and useful, shoe storage, and of course we still needed plenty of hanging space. After talking through everything the designer drew up our dream closet and costed everything out for us. After seeing everything our closet could be, of course it was difficult to walk away.... so we purchased our new custom closet and scheduled our installation date!
Next step, we had to get everything out. We took all our stuff out and loaded up our spare bedrooms closets with clothes. All the hardware for the closet was delivered the day before the installation. We stored all the hardware in the garage, which worked well for the guys that came to install everything the next day.
Installation took about five hours for our closet. They ripped out all the existing hardware, spackled and painted (with white paint because we didn't have our paint color on hand), and installed all the new racks/shelves/hardware. The only complaint I have about the whole process is that they didn't haul away our trash, so we had to deal with that after the fact which was a bit of a bummer. But... we had a brand new closet to make up happy, so we got over that real quick!
The end result is awesome. We made a few adjustments to the initial install- we took out some shoe racks, took down a few shelves, and raised some of the existing shelves. The great part about using The Container Store is that you can return the pieces you don't need and everything is easily adjustable!
Here's the finished product:
We are truly so happy with it! I would highly recommend utilizing The Container Store to have this kind of work done, AND I would highly recommend doing it during the yearly sale (if you go with Elfa). Saving 30% on our entire closet was incredible and was the primary reason why we decided to move it up our to do list and do this now. I believe the sale goes through the end of February, so if you have been thinking about upgrading any of your spaces, now is the time to do it!
