After a few years of not being able to travel home for Christmas, the hubs and I got the opportunity to head back to my home state of CA to spend time with our families. While my husbands parents don't live in CA, he does have an aunt and uncle who do which makes trips to CA just that much better.
We got to spend a full week in the Golden State this year so today I figured I would share a bit about what we did and what I wore while doing it.
For me, most of my mom's side of the family converges on my hometown for a big Christmas Eve so it was a ton of fun to get to see all of them (especially now that most of the cousins are adults). We started a new tradition this year of spending part of the holiday over on the Central Coast where we got to see my family on my dad's side.
The picture above was snapped as we took in the sunset from the beach. This was a travel day so I stayed comfy in my Spanx faux leather leggings and the flannel tunic I got in my most recent Stitch Fix haul.
Since we were in the central coast, we couldn't help but stop by a couple Paso Robles wineries. We snapped the above pic at a new favorite called Epoch but we also visited our all time favorite in the area- RN Estate. The experiences were very different. RN is such a small, intimate place to taste where you will sit with the winemaker or his wife and learn all about the wine they make together. Epoch is more of your traditional tasting room however the gorgeous design, friendly staff, and of course delicious wine make it a fantastic place to spend an afternoon.
This was another travel day as we hit the wineries before driving down to LA to hang out with the husband's aunt and uncle. I didn't stray far from my previous travel outfit, trading out the flannel for a tshirt with a jean shirt over top and adding my favorite (very old) riding boots. One of my favorite tricks when it's not cold enough for a jacket but you need something for a bit more warmth is to throw a jean shirt on over top. I couldn't find the exact shirt I'm wearing by I linked a similar one from Target.
Once in LA we spent a few days with my husbands family and got to see some friends as well. On our second to last day in town we took a day trip to Santa Barbara. We lunched at a cafe on the beach, took in just a bit more of the ocean, and then (you guessed it!) stopped by a couple of tasting rooms for some more wine. We found a new Santa Barbara favorite in Riverbench's Pinot Noirs. We now have a new goal of getting back to SB to explore there even more.
For this day, I again wore my good old comfy riding boots. This time with high waisted AE Jeans, a short sleeved sweater top that's super old from F21, and my favorite Diff Eyewear sunnies. This was the one and only day in CA that I snapped a true outfit photo (blogger fail). I took pics in two different spots, personally I like the one above because it matches the style a bit better but I had to capture a super cool piece of wall art we ran in to as well.
I wish I had more to share with y'all but my blogger brain took a little break for the majority of my trip so that's all I've got. Hope 2018 is off to a great start for each of you! How was y'alls Christmas and New Year??
