Despite what my husband or mother might tell me about how beautiful I look with out make up (thanks for love guys!) I generally feel like my best self when I have a full face of make up on. That said, foundation is one of the most important steps for me.
Today I want to share with y'all my all time favorites. I chose four foundations (I added one more at the last minute) that are across the spectrum in terms of price so there is something here for everyone.
Favorite Everyday Foundation:
This is my ride or die foundation. I've used this for years and while I've experience some other drug store foundations that are just as good (or sometimes maybe even better) this is the foundation I always come back to for everyday. It retails for ~$12 and have an okay shade range at 13 shades. It is a solid medium to full coverage foundation with with SPF 20. It claims to have primer and concealer built in but I still use both of those things. The best qualities in this foundation are it's easy of application (good blend-ability) and it long wear formula (this stuff stays put!).
Favorite Full Coverage Foundation:
I love this foundation! It has a surprisingly thin consistency for such a full coverage foundation but it does the job. This foundation retails for ~$42 and has 38 shades to choose from. Despite so many options, I have occasionally struggled to find a shade light enough for my very pale winter skin. One downside on this foundation the packaging... while it is a gorgeous glass bottle, it is just that- a bottle with a screw on top. You open it and have to pour it on the back of your hand or directly on to a beauty blender (and remember I mentioned its a thin formula). Not awesome. But when you put this on your skin, it will leave you looking matte and flawless.
Favorite "Good Skin Day" Foundation:
I had two foundations here because I've only recently gotten in to wearing lighter coverage foundations. However, now that I work from home I sometime don't feel like putting on a full coverage foundation. I really enjoy the NARS Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer. This comes in a squeeze bottle, is as easy to put on as true moisturizer (I used my hands to apply this) and gives you a nice light coverage with a bit of dewiness to the skin.
I recently purchased the IT Cosmetics CC Cream after consistently hearing about it. For a CC Cream/light coverage foundation... the coverage on this is incredible. I've worn this with a full face for a date night and not thought twice about the amount of coverage on my skin. The downside on this product, the smell is almost so strong that I can't use it. I don't know what it is supposed to smell like, but too me it is a sickeningly strong perfume-y smell. I power through though because the coverage is great and being a CC Cream it feels like I'm also helping my skin a bit while wearing it.
There you have it, the good and bad on a few of my all time favorites. What foundation would you choose if you could only use one for the rest of time?
