The holiday season is wonderful and magical but it can also get a little stressful! Rushing to get gifts for everyone on your lists, making travel plans or planning for visiting family, trying to accomplish those last few goals for 2017... those things can take a toll on your stress levels! When that happens, I am a firm believer in a taking a step back and doing some things to take care of yourself.
Here are a five of my favorite ways to de-stress during the holiday season:
1. Treat Yo'Self
While the rest of these ideas are in no particular order, this one is first on purpose. My absolute favorite way to relax (at any time of year!) is to give myself a little mini spa session. I'll light a candle, put on some music, get super bubbly bath going, and put on one of my favorite face masks.
One of my favorite face mask cocktails is starting with the Peter Thomas Roth Pumpkin Enzyme Mask (amazing for resurfacing and making your skin feel brand new) and following up with the First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Instant Oatmeal Mask (great for nourishing, repairing, and hydrating).
2. Netflix and Cuddle
There's nothing better than cuddling up on the couch under a nice warm blanket (maybe with a fire in the fireplace) and binge watching some Netflix. If you're looking to watch some cheesy, romantic Christmas movies I recommend The Christmas Prince and Christmas in the Smokies. If you'd rather stick with something outside the Christmas genre- I would highly recommend The Crown (season 2 just came out!).
3. Do Some Holiday Baking
The holidays provide a great excuse to indulge in some delicious treats! Personally, I have two favorite holiday treats- sugar cookies and my mom's fudge! I have incredible memories or baking and decorating sugar cookies for Santa as a kiddo. So why not grab some family or friends and have a little cookie decorating fun!
4. Work It Out
When I'm stressed it's always helpful to burn some of that negative energy off by getting a little exercise in. Whether that's jumping on the treadmill in the gym, taking a spin class, or getting some fresh air with a walk around the neighborhood, taking that time to clear your mind and move your body will have you feeling much better by the end of it. Check out my post on staying active for more thoughts on this topic.
5. Hit the Town
By this point y'all know that my hubby and I are huge foodies and big fans of a good cocktail or bottle of wine... so a night out on the town is a great way to stop thinking about the stressers of the everyday world and just focus on the now. Grab your S.O. for a date night or a group of your best friends for a fun night out! Use it as a excuse to get dressed up in your favorite fancy holiday party look.
