My sweet husband recently gave me a $100 gift card to Sephora for no reason at all. His only condition was that I use it toward content for the blog, to which I said "no problem!".
I decided to do a haul and first impression for ya'll on a few products that I'd been looking to try out recently. Here's what I got with this $100 at Sephora.
- Fenty Beauty by Rihanna- Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Long Wear Foundation
- Fenty Beauty by Rihanna- Match Stix Trio in Light
- Milk Makeup- Lip + Cheek in Perk
Also I couldn't resist grabbing one little item from all the little products that they tease you with in the checkout line... I grabbed Rosebud Perfume Co's Rosebud Salve in a Tube at the last minute. So let's break down each of these products a little bit further.
Fenty Beauty by Rihanna- Pro Filt'r Soft Matte Long Wear Foundation: I was super excited to try this foundtation simply because of the hype. I grabbed the shade X which is a decent match for me (a little too yellow undertoned). The foundation is definitely a medium coverage but is build-able. As it claims, it sets to a nice soft matte, providing an almost "filtered" look to the skin. Do note that the foundation does dry down slightly darker than the initial color you'll see when first out of the tube. Overall, this won't make the list of my favorite foundations anytime soon- I generally prefer more full coverage- but it is solid and I'll certainly continue using it.
Fenty Beauty by Rihanna- Match Stix Trio in Light: You can tell that I was in the mood for cream product during this shopping trip... I picked up the match stix in light because it provided a cream concealer, contour, and highlight all in one. The concealer color again is a little yellow toned for me, but I can make it work. The contour is my favorite of the three, it provides a great cool toned, shadow-like contour color that blends out easily with a brush (I've found a brush to be better than a beauty blender). Lastly the highlight is a nice cool toned pink shimmer highlight that can be applied lightly for every day or built up to a blinding highlight- if you're in to that.
Milk Makeup- Lip + Cheek in Perk: This product was not on the list of things I was looking for during this trip but I've never tried anything from Milk so I was drawn to their display. I've also never experimented much with cream blushes and since I was already on the cream product kick I figured, "what's one more?!". Perk is a bright coral color that is probably a little more appropriate for spring/summer but that's ok... Personally I've found the product to be a little difficult to work with as a blush (but that could very well be user-error) but I did get compliments from my husband while wearing it! So I'm still TBD on this one.
Rosebud Perfume Co's Rosebud Salve in a Tube: I've had the traditional tin of this product in the past- its a great lip balm- but I've never liked the unsanitary-ness that comes with dipping your finger in to a tin over and over to apply the product to your lips. The tube version removes that issue and gives you great access to the same product in a more sanitary way. Plus rose oil (a base ingredient in the product) is incredible for moisturizing and healing skin.
That covers it for this little haul. Have you tried any of these products? What are your thoughts? Any tips for me on the cream blush? :-P
